buy fotos from iphoto

I want to buy a card from iPhoto (9.5.1) (os x 10.9.5). After I click buy card I specify the number of cards I want to buy and my zip code. Next I need to login with my apple ID. However this does not work, the error I get back is:

"There was a problem communicating with the Apple Online Store. Please try again."

I can reach the store in iTunes. Is there a known problem with iPhoto?

Apple stopped the support for Print Products from iPhoto and Aperture at the end of March. iPhoto is no longer well supported by Apple.

The only way now to buy print products from Apple is to use the Photos for Mac application. But you will have to upgrade your Mac to OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite or newer, to be able to use Photos.
